I had just recently finished my preliminary task in which i believe i could've done much better in, but I am planning to establish my personal ideas and thoughts into this main task. I have decided to use the 'Rock' genre type of magazine, I think it has a wider range of audience than most other genres and also it is what most people on all ages are usually into.
My main proposals and ideas are going to be shown in my class drafting book. I plan to use a maximum of three pictures with only a maximum of three headings on the front cover, with one picture/heading being the main focus of the magazine. I am going to use students in my year to make up for the pictures i am planning to use, so that it shows i did not have to think about any copyright. I have a vivid image in my head of what colors I am going to use, but i plan to make the colors stand out and be noticed when people look at my magazine.
My main task is not going to be similar to my preliminary task, I plan to make the magazine front cover and inside covers much more developed by planning each step, in which I will post on my blog as time goes on.
At this moment I have not started putting my ideas and thoughts onto paper, but that will be starting very soon, I am first hoping to think of a suitable title which will reflect on the youth around us. I plan to make my pictures unique, I will use photoshop to edit most of them too. For my next stage I am going to start planning out my ideas into my drafting book, i am also going to conduct some research on Rock magazines so that I gain gain some extra knowledge on what makes it so unique
I will keep updating...

Intro to my media work....
In our A level media classes we have been assigned a Preliminary task and also a Main task. The preliminary task includes making the front cover of a magazine in which it is dedicated to a certain age group of your choice but it has to include a MCU (medium close up) of a student. The main task is to create a music magazine, in which it has to involve more than the front cover, but I will send another post containing its details and tasks when we begin that. The preliminary task therefore, is just a way of experimenting with ourselves and experimenting with the use of equipment we have available.
Before the preliminary and main task was set, we underwent a series of lessons that involved learning about the basics of photography/media. It was a way to recap what others has learned in the previous year, and also a way for the new students to learn the basics. We also watched various types of videos in our class, mainly focusing on British TV drama and learning new camera angles, shots and movement during the process. We also gained knowledge about directing with a work-shop, in which a professional director visited us and taught us different techniques on how to use the camera, and what it takes to make it as a director.
After this, the preliminary task was set, we looked at different types of front covers and analysed them with detail. We were also learning about the elements of photography and examples of them which helped out knowledge when we come to taking pictures for our preliminary task. The elements of photography included DOP (depth of field), Rule of Thirds, Composition, Single point of interest, ambiguity, mise-en-scene, colour and lighting.
At the moment, I am still doing my preliminary task. My initial idea for the magazine was that i would call it 'Heston Bugle' and target the magazine for 6 formers only. I have created a couple of flat plans with detail and it shows where i would place my masthead, copy, teasers, plugs, cover lines and also my images. I have already included two pictures, one of a couple of students, and the other of a teacher, but i still have to include my main background image which consists of a teacher and two students by his side.
The main article or story in my magazine is talking about the international project in our school called 'Sky To Tap', even though it is something that most students are not familiar with, I thought I may as well continue with this because it is something not many people have heard of and can gain extra insight on what is happening in and around school. I have not altered the images in any way using photoshop, but for the main image (background) i am planning to use photoshop. I will update a new post once I have completed the preliminary task.
